The Ultimate Gift Guide for Bakers

This article is jam-packed with gift ideas for bakers. What I mean is those who like making and decorating cakes, as well as everyone who enjoys thinking about cakes. (I’m always thinking about cake.)

In this article, I’ve attempted to offer a broad range of gift ideas for various budget sizes. These are pretty significant items that are pricey that you may wish to ask for, for yourself! (I already know which one is for me!)

Let’s get started. These gift suggestions are not in any particular sequence. Just browse around to see what catches your attention.

I’ve bolded each suggestion and provided an image with a link to purchase below it.

A Lovely Bundt Pan:

This is something that a caker may not purchase for themselves, thus I believe it is the ideal present. I just have a standard bundt pan, but I’d want to upgrade to a more better one.

Fill it with wooden spoons, rubber spatulas, measuring spoons, pot holders, or a dishtowel. Put a ribbon around it, and you’ve got yourself a lovely present.

Here are several possibilities:

Heritage Bundt Cake Pan

Bundt Pan from Bavaria

Metallic Nordic Ware Jubilee Bundt Pan

Rose Cast Aluminum Bundt Pan by Nordic Ware

Mini Bundt Cake Pan Set:

Set of 4 Small Bundt Pans

Stand Mixer by KitchenAid:

This is the caker gift that reigns supreme. From the original series on up, there are several variations with distinct pricing points. I have a red original KitchenAid mixer that I like, but I really want one of those fancy gold ones.

Here are some alternatives:

KitchenAid 4.5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, Classic Plus Series, White

5-Qt. Artisan Design Series with Glass Bowl Azure Blue KitchenAid KSM155GBAZ

Sugar Pearl Silver KitchenAid 7-Quart Pro Line Stand Mixer

Accessories for a Mixer:

If you’re going to buy a mixer for someone, why not go all out and get them some decent attachments? Some of them come with a set of attachments, but I’m going to recommend a few that aren’t included.

The first attachment is the flex edge beater. I almost always use the beater attachment for everything, including cake batter and buttercream. It works better than the whisk attachment since it does not whip in too much air and does not seem to overwork the batter or buttercream. Using the beater attachment, I get significantly smoother cake batter and buttercream.

The regular beater attachments are available, but I like the flex beaters because of the additional rubber component that comes out and helps keep things off the edge of the bowl during beating.

The pasta roller attachment is the next thing you should think about. You want the one that slices pasta like fettuccine, not the one that cuts lasagna.

This attachment is ideal for cake decorators, particularly those who are new to working with fondant. (Just make sure they have a KitchenAid mixer before you purchase it for them.)

They are excellent for rolling out fondant for gumpaste flowers, cupcake toppers, and fondant ruffles. Everything is rolled out uniformly, and the thickness may be adjusted. My pasta roller attachment has come in handy and saved me hours and hours of time.

Portable Mixer:

If you don’t want to spend the money on a stand mixer, a decent hand mixer will do.

I like using my KitchenAid hand mixer just as much as my stand mixer. This would make an excellent present when combined with some wooden spoons, a mixing bowl set, dish cloths, or maybe a pair of cake pans.

Lovely Mixing Bowl Set:

Don’t simply go out and get some ordinary mixing bowls. Choose a set that is both gorgeous and functional. What I mean is that you don’t want to choose anything mundane. Pick something lovely or quirky, or anything that gives a little more assistance, such as those mixing bowls with pouring spouts that I like.

Here are several possibilities:

Mixing Bowls with a Copper Finish

Set of Mixing Bowls

Set of Melamine Mixing Bowls

Beautiful Measuring Cup Set:

They would make an excellent stocking stuffer, secret Santa present, or addition to a bundt pan or set of mixing bowls.

Set of 6 Fred M-CUPS White Matryoshka Dry Measuring Cups

Set of Mason Jar Measuring Cups

Set of 4 Unicorn Measuring Cups

Measuring Glasses for Pigs

This following one isn’t a measuring cup set, but it’s so adorable that I couldn’t resist including it. That is, in fact, a kitchen timer!

Beautiful Measuring Spoon Set:

This, like the measuring cup set, would make an excellent stocking stuffer, a tiny present for a coworker, or part of a bigger gift to someone.

Stainless Metal Measuring Spoons that fit in Spice Jars

Spoons for Measuring Cats

Measuring Cups and Spoons in Pink Nylon with Rose Gold Copper Handles

Measuring Spoon Set in Pink Ceramic Mason Jar

Cake Turntable of Superior Quality:

So, when I first began, I used a Wilton turntable. It worked well, and I still have it and use it on occasion. But when I realized I wanted to make more cakes and learn more about cake design, I decided to buy an update. I purchased one of the heavier duty metal turntables, and the spin is considerably smoother.

Here are several possibilities:

Cake Plate:

This is an obvious gift idea. At least, it is for me. I doubt I’ll ever have enough cake stands. I have so many on my internet wish list that I doubt I’ll ever run out of things to purchase. I know it’s an addiction, but if you or someone you know bakes, odds are they’d appreciate a new cake stand.

The most important thing to remember is that the greatest cake stands have a flat top. As I conduct my research, I often come across cake stands with curved tops that aren’t flat. It may really detract from the appearance of a cake, so keep an eye out for it.

Here are some suggestions:

Cake Keepers: Savers

Alright, sometimes you don’t need a beautiful cake stand; you simply want to store your cake in something nice so it doesn’t spoil before you finish it. That’s where a cake saver comes in handy. Also, if you gift the caker in your life a cake saver, it could inspire them to bring you some cake in it!

Turn the top upside down so that it is open and fill it with various baking tools such as measuring spoons and cups, dish cloths, baking ingredients, and so on. Then wrap everything with a large bow.

Here are several cake saver options:

Airtight Cake Storage Tin Made of Copper-Coated Steel

Set of Gourmet Vanilla Extract:

Well, they are simply to make you feel fancy. Put a set of them in a basket with potholders, wooden spoons, and a measuring spoon set; it’s ideal for the caker.

A Cake Cookbook:

This is a terrific idea for someone who is just getting started with scratch cake making or cake decorating. (Well, I could have chosen a better metaphor, but you get the idea.) There are several fantastic cake designing and cake making books, but I’ll just mention a handful that I believe are really good.

The Modern Cake Designing Bible is jam-packed with cake decorating advice and is ideal for beginners.

The Modern Cake Decorating Bible

Rose Levy Beranbaum’s Cake Bible is a classic that is ideal for the baker who wants to make everything from scratch. Ms. Beranbaum is the cake queen.

The Cake Book

Airbrushing Set:

This one is for a more advanced cake decorator. I’m not into airbrushing, although I know a lot of cake decorators are. I should simply acquire one and play with it, but I keep getting distracted by other ideas.

But, airbrushes may produce some wonderful effects and can quickly paint fondant.

Adorable Potholders and Oven Mitts Set:

Who doesn’t want to safeguard their hands with something cute? They are ideal as a secret santa present for the baker, or in conjunction with any of the other ideas in this article.

Here are several possibilities:

Set of Two Cupcake Oven Mitts

Oven Mitt for Cherry Cupcakes

Set of Icing Combs:

Icing combs come in handy when you want a little texture in your buttercream. They would make an excellent present when accompanied with some frosting spatulas and maybe the Cake Decorators Bible book I suggested previously.

Set of Icing Combs

Set of Piping:

Another excellent suggestion for a novice. A set of piping tips, an icing comb set, icing spatulas, and a book would make an excellent present.

Cake Pans with Magic Lines:

So, these are my fave baking pans. There are less costly and more expensive pans, but I like these. The cake gets wonderful rise and they are cooked equally every time. When compared to other cake pans, you can obviously see the difference.

Clothes for Cakes and Cupcakes:

Here are a couple more gift suggestions. I adore a decent tote bag (they’re always useful) and a humorous t-shirt, particularly when it’s about cake.
