Cupcakes for Mother’s Day (plus free printable toppers)
These Mother’s Day cupcakes are adorable and simple to create. You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to make them, and Mom will like them.
These cupcakes are easy and tasty. The piping on them is a simple rosette, and I’ll teach you how to make the two-tone icing method as well.
These adorable cupcake toppers, however, are the true star of the show, and I’ve included three distinct designs.
All three designs are printed on one page, with a total of 12 cupcake toppers on per sheet, allowing you to mix and match them and print as many sheets as you like. Remember, they are completely free!
Let’s get started with the lesson. (Don’t forget to watch the video at the conclusion of this page to see how everything is done.)

STEPS FOR MAKING THE MOTHER’S DAY CUPCAKES:
Let’s get started on how to bake these adorable Mother’s Day cupcakes.
PREPARING THE TOPPERS:
The first step is to print out the free cupcake topper printable. You may download them by clicking on the picture or icon below.
You should print them on cardstock paper. It is thicker and more durable than conventional paper.
Prepare your toppers by cutting them out. You may make this with simply scissors or the easier way using a 2 hole punch. If you use a hole punch, just cut the toppers into strips like the ones shown below and clip off a little at the end.
In order to see where you’ll be punching, turn your hole punch upside down. You may clip a little more off the end of the strip if necessary.
Just push down and remove the cap.
Just stick a toothpick to the back of the cupcake topper.
Just repeat for the remaining toppers, then put them aside to work on your cupcakes.
PREPARING THE CUPCAKES:
Just bake your cupcakes and allow them to cool fully.
I wanted to get a two-toned effect for the rosettes on these cupcakes. I picked light green and pale pink to match the toppers, but you may use whatever colors you choose.
To get the rosette effect, use a piping bag fitted with a 1M or 2D piping tip. Just put it aside for a moment.
Fill three frosting bags with white, pink, and green icing (or use the colors youve picked). You’ll also want to snip off the ends, but they don’t need piping tips.
Just pipe the three colors into your main piping bag. There’s no rhyme or reason to it; simply pipe buttercream stripes in your bag.
Twist your pastry bag and begin piping your buttercream rosettes. Remember to start in the centre (inside) and pipe outward while making the rosettes that truly look like flowers. (The video will demonstrate this better.)
If you need more assistance learning how to pipe rosettes, I’ve written a complete tutorial on it. It will go through my piping rosettes procedure to make them seem less flat.
FINISHING OFF THE CUPCAKES:
All you have to do now is insert the cupcake toppers slightly before serving, and you’re done! Yay!
Very simple to make, but so lovely for a Mother.

FAQs
What do you print cupcake toppers on?
You should use cardstock paper, which is somewhat thicker than regular printer paper.
Can I make my own cupcake toppers?
Cupcake toppers may be fashioned from a variety of materials, but my personal favorite is paper. Making cupcake toppers has never been easier thanks to Cricut Design Space! We can design from fresh, import a picture from design space, upload an SVG file acquired from Etsy, and even print and cut digital creations.
How do you make custom cupcake toppers?
A pictorial guide on how to build cupcake toppers
Step one is to gather your ingredients. Step two is to cut your popsicle sticks in half.
Step three is to cut the printed circles into strips.
Step four is to punch out your circles…. Step five is to glue the popsicle stick on the back of a printed circle.
Step 6: Insert a second printed circle.
How to make printable edible cake toppers?
Printing Instructions for the Edible Cake Topper:
Put the frosting sheet, frosting side up, in the printer (plastic on the back). Prepare your edible printer by stocking up on edible ink cartridges and blank icing sheets. Give the print command, and it will gradually print on your icing sheet.
What is a good size for cupcake toppers?
Little cupcake toppers are 1.5 inches in size, as opposed to 2.5 inch cupcake toppers.
How far in advance can you make cupcake toppers?
Make the cupcake toppers at least 24 hours ahead of time and set them aside to dry. Shifting the tops before they have had an opportunity to dry can result in a disaster.
What kind of icing do you use for cupcake toppers?
Roll-out icing, also known as sugar paste or fondant, works best. Royal icing, buttercream, or glace icing may also be used. The icing on your cake or cupcakes may be whatever color you like, but since the topper is constructed of extremely thin icing, dark colors like milk chocolate may not always be appropriate.
Can Cricut make cupcake toppers?
Garnish your party cupcakes with some extra-special toppers made with your Cricut machine! This project was made on the Cricut Maker, but it may also be made with the Cricut Joy or the Explore Air 2.
